Rialo Nova

Making crypto feel clear and controllable

Overview

I co-led strategy and designed the entire Rialo Nova app across browser and mobile, grounding every product decision in 20+ user interviews.

A strategic pivot led leadership to discontinue the product before it reached users.

The challenge

Fear of irreversible loss

Users feared losing money through actions they could not reverse.

Rialo Nova was designed for managing assets and accessing products on Rialo’s network. Interviewees described wallets as safety-deposit boxes and used separate tools to track investments. Interest in automation came with concern about AI touching money and data ownership.

Decision 01

Review transfers before approval

Make the amount, recipient and cost explicit before approval.

The transfer design places those details in a separate review step, with Confirm and Cancel actions. This gives someone a chance to check what will happen before committing.

Decision 02

Define boundaries for automation

Automation needed a defined trigger and consequence.

Participants valued if-this-then-that automation but were uneasy about AI acting on their money. I shaped a roadmap direction around defined triggers and consequences. The browser interaction designs made control concrete through explicit app permissions and transaction review. The assistant remained an emerging direction, with money and data ownership central to the strategy.

Decision 03

Give each task a clear destination

Keep the immediate task visible; reveal deeper capabilities when needed.

The product strategy organized Nova around Cash / Investing, Trading and mini-apps, giving money management, trades and connected apps distinct places on the roadmap. In the browser extension, focused money actions and expandable token details explored the same principle: keep the immediate task clear, with deeper capabilities available when needed.

Outcome

One system across browser and mobile

A shared design system supported both platforms.

My work connected research and product strategy with interface design, brand, interaction prototypes and implementation guidance, giving the team one direction across browser and mobile.

For more than seven years, I’ve helped small teams make complex products easier to understand and use. I work across research, product decisions, brand, interface design, and code.

AI has completely changed how I work. What hasn’t changed is the attention and care that goes into making something wonderful.
